Group days out for adults in the North East
Whether it's a stag or hen do, or just a week away with mates, there’s plenty of awesome activities for groups to do in the North East. Whether it’s going behind the scenes at a local brewery, climbing into treetops, racing around a high speed circuit, or enjoying an evening of expanding your cookery skills, there really is something for everyone. Here are just a few of our favourites:
Coastering
Challenge yourselves with a unique and exhilarating coastal adventure. Swim, jump, climb and scramble your way along some of the most stunning coastline in the North East. With cliff jumps, caves to explore, and hidden coves to discover, this is a group activity suitable for all levels of adventurer. Wetsuits and safety equipment are included and our experienced instructors will guide you safely along on your coasteering adventure.
Go Ape at Matfen Hall
Located just outside Newcastle in the grounds of a country house hotel, Go Ape Matfen is great fun for a group activity. Choose from a Treetop Chalenge, or a high rope course with super fast, super high zip wires. Or if heights aren’t your thing you can still challenge each other with a competitive round of axe throwing. Grab a bite to eat after in a local pub, or if your group is in need of something more relaxing after all that activity then you could always book in for a session at the hotel spa!
Ouseburn Brewery Tour
Every first Friday in the month you can enjoy a guided walking tour around the popular Ouseburn Valley exploring the regions breweries and pubs. Learn about the area's rich brewing history and go behind the scenes at three breweries (including samples!).
Hydrospeeding
Definitely one for the thrill seekers! After a quick lesson in how to read the river, steer, and stop you’ll shoot off along the water on your foam hydrospeed. Experience surfing over rpids, jumping rocks, and duck-diving over waterfalls in this ultimate wild river activity. Cook up a storm
If your group is looking for a slightly calmer activity, or to keep out of the north east weather!, then check out the range of group cookery lessons available at the Blackfriars Cookery School. With everything from express street food making classes or pasta making, to fish and seafood masterclasses or Tacos & Tequila evenings, there’s something to suit all tastes. They offer a wide range of different world cuisines to try your hand at, all in the unique setting of a 13th century former Dominican friary.
Gorge Walking
Sometimes referred to as ghyll scrambling and gorge scrambling, gorge walking is an exciting outdoor activity that will have you jumping from waterfalls, sliding down natural rock shutes, and plunging into deep pools. Making the most of nature’s playground our instructors will guide you safely down the river, while ensuring you have an exhirarating watery adventure along the way!
