The Grainger Market first opened in 1835 (with a huge celebratory banquet!) and is one of the few market halls in the UK that remains in use for its original purpose. This busy, vibrant market is tucked away right in the heart of Newcastle and is packed with over 100 small shops and eateries. The best way to enjoy it is to put some time aside to just wander the aisles, taking in the atmosphere and pausing to eat and drink at one of the many cafes before picking up some fresh groceries to take home.
